Policies and Procedures
The Butler PTA sponsors after-school enrichment classes through BASEP to meet the needs of Butler students for in-depth exploration of subjects, ideas, and activities, not covered within the regular school day. BASEP is proud to work with BASEP Teachers, school staff, volunteers, and students to provide exemplary after-school learning opportunities in a safe, well-supported environment. BASEP is not licensed by the Department of Early Education and Care or any other state agency.
SESSION DATES:
Not all classes run for the full session, see the course catalog descriptions for the specific dates for each class.
If a class is cancelled during the session (due to weather or teacher cancellation), one make-up class date is available the week following the last day of the class.
Classes will not be held on days that the Butler school is closed, including holidays and snow days. BASEP reserves the right to cancel classes due to inclement weather on days that the Butler school is open.
BASEP will communicate such cancellations using the email address you provide on your registration form by 1pm on the class day.
REGISTRATION:
Enrollment is for Butler students only. Registration is only available online, so please contact a member of the staff if you want help using the computer. To register on line you will need to access the BASEP webpage by using the following link: https://butler.schooltwist.org
The PTA reserves the right to cancel or combine classes for any reason. If a class is cancelled, you will be notified and your payment will be returned.
DEADLINE: Registration for the program is conducted on a first come, first served basis. Late registrations will NOT be accepted. Enrollment confirmations are sent at the time of payment.
PAYMENT: The preferred method of payment is through the online registration system using a credit card. If for any reason you are unable to pay online with a credit card, and wish to pay with a check, please contact a BASEP team member immediately to make alternative arrangements.
Class fees cover the teachers’ pay, coordinator and monitor costs, administrative fees and a portion of scholarships.
VOLUNTEER MONITOR
We will have two parent monitors each day depending on enrollment. As monitor, you will help students get to class, collect attendance, assist with student injury, misbehavior, and class dismissal and must be available in the school lobby for the program duration (2:45 pm – 4:15 pm) on the day you are assigned (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday). Occasionally, the need arises for a monitor to contact the parents of BASEP students, so the monitor must be willing and able to communicate with these parents, if required. If you serve as monitor on your child’s class day each week for the entire session, you will be refunded full tuition for that one course. Please note, that a maximum of 2 classes will be refunded per family, so if you have requested, and received, financial aid for a class, and you choose to monitor, only 1 day of monitoring will be able to be refunded. If you have any questions pertaining to this policy, please contact ButlerBASEP@gmail.com.. If you are interested, please check the box on your child’s registration form or contact ButlerBASEP@gmail.com. Classes will be cancelled if Monitors cannot be found
STUDENT BEHAVIOR
There is zero tolerance for bullying. The PTA strictly prohibits teasing, vulgarity, or any behavior that makes another child or teacher uncomfortable. We will send home a warning when a child has acted inappropriately. Two warnings will result in a dismissal from all remaining classes with no refund.
Students must participate in the classes they attend and must behave in a manner that does not disrupt learning by other students. BASEP reserves the right of dis-enrollment of students from classes who do not exhibit appropriate behavior. No refunds will be given.
